In 1999, Anderson supervised the production of a computer-animated test film, Captain Scarlet and the Return of the Mysterons, to explore the possibility of updating some of his 1960s puppet series for a 21st-century audience.

War erupts between Earth and Mars after a manned mission to the Red Planet results in an attack on the city of the Mysterons. The World President is threatened with assassination but ultimately saved from a Mysteron reconstruction of Spectrum's top agent, Captain Scarlet, which is released from Mysteron control and re-enters Earth's service.

Sir Percy is forced to return to France one last time, to rescue his wife from the clutches of the sinister Robespierre. It's clearly a trap, but nothing will keep the good Pimpernel from carrying out his mission.

The East Coast of the United States - 1871. "Sea monsters" are sinking ships up and down the Atlantic seaboard. PRESIDENT ULYSSES S. GRANT, enraged that his navy is helpless in the face of this onslaught, is forced to ask for assistance from the notorious CAPTAIN NEMO, in Federal prison for war crimes and scheduled for execution. Grant returns Nemo's submarine, the infamous Victorian Steampunk marvel NAUTILUS, and promises a full Presidential pardon if Nemo hunts down and destroys the source of the attacks. Accompanied by the beautiful daughter of Grant's chief advisor, Nemo sets off under the sea in search of answers. Unfortunately, the enemy may be closer than any of them realize.
